Treat it seasonally with a water repellent; leather is really good at holding in water and falling apart. As for keeping edges pristine, I have no idea. Little bits of the leather keep falling off of mine. I think it's due to me stepping on it all the time, though, not by normal wear and tear (I own a leather trench coat).

The whole point of a leather jacket is that it should look like it has come off a bike on several occasions.

You have to keep it dry. Dry it up if you happen to be in rain shower, And you can polish it like a leather shoe if you see fungus development at some place.
