If you're thinking of "polymer clay" beads, then there's a huge load of info on making all kinds of them on this page:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/beads.htm

(of course, all kinds of polymer clay techniques can be used to make patterns for the surface of clay beads, so look at the rest of the site--my site btw-- for ways to make more patterns, and also just basic info on using polymer clays:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/contents.htm
(scroll all the way down)

(the major brands of pre-colored polymer clay in the U.S. are Premo, FimoClassic, FimoSoft, Kato Polyclay, Sculpey III, and Cernit ... note that Sculpey III is the weak polymer clay in any thin or extending areas after baking . . . there are also bulk Sculpeys which are either white, terracotta or flesh colored; those come in boxes)

As for rings made with polymer clay (or using polymer clay only for the "stones" or other focal parts, perhaps with wire), check out some of the examples and lessons on this page:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/jewelry.htm
(click on "Rings")

If you were thinking of other types of clay (air dry clays like Makins or Hearty clay, for example, *some* of the same principles would apply, but hardening and strength etc., would be different and they won't do nearly as many things as polymer clay will .e

I got a kit for making rings when I was about 8 that came with beads, wire, and easy easy instructions. I was obsessed with making them for a while. There are about 6 different ring styles and you can get really creative. The company that made it is Klutz. Trust me on this one. I was only 8! Good luck!

You take Sculpey Clay (buy it at craft stores) and mold them into colorful balls and poke a toothpick all the way through the middle to make a hole for a string. To make rings make a strip of clay large enough to go around the desired finger. Connect and make a loop out of it and bake it before wearing.
