ok my uncle and his girlfriend got pregnet. they found out it was a boy and decided on the name Brandon Davon because they like the name Brandon and Davon is a name that has been passed down for like 6 generations. Well when the baby was born Lisa (uncle's girlfriend) went behind my uncle's back and named the baby James Brandon. Everyone was mad because it was a tradition for all of the Harmon men's first born son's middle name to be Davon even if they didnt like it. my uncle and Lisa liked the name and it had been settled for like 7 monthes. Do u think this was a wrong thing for Lisa to do? i do.

Oh and she had a c-section sceduled a month earlier than when Brandon was supposed to be born so he would be born on her father's birthday so that could be her excuse to name him James, that is her fathers name.

I think Lisa was wrong. Being married as little to do with this. He 's still the child's father. She should have kept her word. If she didn't have any intentions to name her son that, she should have made it known beforehand. This is about communication (lack of) and deceit. Sometimes, there's nothing wrong with sticking to tradition.

Right or wrong Lisa should have never gone behind his back like that. Put it this way Lisa went behind his back and that is the bigger crime. This problem can be rectified where Davon still fits into the equation of parties are willing. Such as James Brandon Davon or Brandon James Davon, but that is neither here nor there the damage is done. Lisa is in the wrong!

Yes, I think it was wrong. It's okay if she didn't like the name, but she should have been honest about it up front and said flat out that she wouldn't use it. Or she could have put it in as a 3rd name. It's not like it will ever be used and it wouldn't hurt the kid at all. Oh well, the kid's here now. Time to get over it and move and appreciate the little tyke for who he is. There are much worse things in the world to worry about than a name.

well i feel the two should have made an agreement
both took part in making the baby
both should contribute the name
it's a compromise
i think Lisa was wrong in naming the baby all herself

Yes but not because of the family per se but because she didn't take your uncle's feeling into consideration. Sounds like a great start for this poor kid.

Yes, I think it was wrong, especially when Lisa and your uncle had agreed upon it. She should have been open and honest about her opinion of the name and should have talked to your uncle before she changed it.

Hell ya. But i guess she did not like the way it sound and did not want her 1st born to have a name like that. But what can she do know the baby has that name. Maybe the nexy boy they have could have that name.

Well, problem #1 is that she's a girlfriend, not a wife. If they were married, he'd have more of a case. When a couple is just living together, where's the permancy in that? How can she know that he's going to stick around? And if he doesn't, she doesn't want to be stuck with a kid with a name she hates!

I think the tradition is old, so you let the past go and start a new tradition.
