ok 305 were from late 70's to 1993 and they were mainly put in camaros and half-ton 2wd trucks with some exceptions. They were complete junk motors. A 327 block and a 283 crank(A destroked 327 and boy did they run) is were they got the 302's that were in the late 60's camaros. The 307 were actual motors but in early 80's olds.which were fairly good running motors but they were low compression and weren't power houses just reliable. Then there was a pre 1974 chevy 307 which were low compression similiar to the 305 replacement.

283 went to 307 for the 68 model year, 307 became 305 in about 1976 then lasted till at least 92. There was also a 307 olds that started in the early eighties, and I hope is gone now...

he is stuck in pre'73.I had a '70 camaro with a 307 and I had a '81 with a 305.You are right,he is wrong,I can't send you anywhere to prove it but trust me,I grew up a chevy man and I had 4 camaros and a host of other chevys. And by the way,in my opinion both the 307 and the 305 were low compression dogs.JUNK!!!!

First, if this person is very young or otherwise inexperienced, the answer would not be stupid-just ignorant(un-learned). If, however, "he" continues to disagree (without proof) he is silly-even if he's correct. And I assure you-he is not!

I have several cousins who are classic chevy buffs and dedicated race fans. I'm not a mechanic, but all they talk about are 350's and 305's. But the main proof I have is my nearly 100% original , 4 door, no frills '78 Chevy Nova-it -with its still running 305!!! You can end your poll now. KEN!!! PS. Never heard of a 307!

I had a 305 in a 1978, it was a good little engine. It ran a couple hundred thousand miles but it wasn't much for performance.
