-It is not hard to believe that there was once probably life on mars. mars has much larger mountains and more craiters meaning it is deffinatley older then earth. at one point in time, maybe even before the earth was formed, mars may have had an atmosphere abundant enough for life to live on. it may have or may have had water on it also. so even though there probably isnt life on mars now, there very well could have been.
-It is just like if the human race was destroyed by nuclear war with no evidence of our presence and another alien race speculated our existance

According to David Bowie... It's going to suck!

Life on Mars. By: David Bowie.

It's a god-awful small affair
To the girl with the mousy hair
But her mummy is yelling "No"
And her daddy has told her to go
But her friend is nowhere to be seen
Now she walks
through her sunken dream
To the seat with the clearest view
And she's hooked to the silver screen
But the film is a saddening bore
For she's lived it
ten times or more
She could spit in the eyes of fools
As they ask her to focus on

[CHORUS]
Sailors fighting in the dance hall
Oh man!
Look at those cavemen go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the Lawman
Beating up the wrong guy
Oh man! Wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
Is there life on Mars?

It's on Amerika's tortured brow
That Mickey Mouse
has grown up a cow
Now the workers
have struck for fame
'Cause Lennon's on sale again
See the mice in their million hordes
From Ibeza to the Norfolk Broads
Rule Britannia is out of bounds
To my mother, my dog, and clowns
But the film is a saddening bore
'Cause I wrote it
ten times or more
It's about to be writ again
As I ask you to focus on

[CHORUS]
Dring-dring-dring......
[Mind the phone]

We don't know yet. Probably not. There could have been in the past. No traces found as yet.
They found water (or at least a liquid) pouring into a crater.
If traces of present or past life were found, nothing would happen to our society. Only we would understand that life is widespread in the universe, and change some of our beliefs.

It is conceivable that we will find either rudimentory organisms, or evidence that they existed at one time. For scientists, this would be VERY exciting. As for the general public, it would certainly ignite another round of evolution vs. creation debate, but in the end, it won't change anyone's mind.

Now if the proverbial "little green men" in space ships were to come calling, now THAT would be another story!

"Mars is essentially in the same orbit... Mars is somewhat the same distance from the Sun, which is very important. We have seen pictures where there are canals, we believe, and water. If there is water, that means there is oxygen. If oxygen, that means we can breathe."

-Dan Quayle

MARS USE TO BE LIKE THE EARTH SO THERE MUST BE SOME LIFE THERE. IF THAT LIFE IS DANGEROUS THE SOCIETY WILL KILL THEM OFF

This question is hard to answer. No one person knows for sure, but recently someone found water on the planet. This suggests that life is possible or once was on that planet. But currently, no one knows.

Probably, though we haven't been able to find it. Just give it time. Sooner or later we'll deplete this planet enough that we'll need to find a new home.
