Ebay states that it is not an auction site but a site that allows sellers and buyers to have "secure" transactions and there fore has no responsibility when a transaction goes wrong and a buyer has paid for the item. Has this happened to ou. I'd really like to know. It seems that there should be some recourse against the company.

We have been on ebay for about 7 years & our feedback rating is 3200. You need to check out the seller before you buy. Check out his feedback. Where he ships to. Does he seem reputable? Does he charge a small amount for the item but gouge you on shipping? Does he accept paypal? Pay through paypal if at all possible. Its safe. Look it over very well before purchasing. Remember its not like a local store that if your not happy you can just return it.

Always use Paypal. The only time I did not receive the product from the seller I had no problems doing a chargeback and getting my money back.

I bought something, paid for it, and was later told the item wasn't even available- they'd posted the wrong photo and wrong description. I got a refund, but it was a hassle. In another instance, I myself chose the wrong item, and when I asked to exchange it, the seller said to just keep the wrong one, and they sent me the item I'd meant to order, free of charge and shipping fees.

That's like saying you should have recourse against the newspaper if you buy a used car through one of their classified ads and it turns out to be a lemon.

The law on this issue is VERY well settled. You're wrong.
