If you want immediate results purchase sod and cut it so it fits the spots that are gone.
Other wise you can just sprinkle the some seed and cover it with a small layer of topsoil. Keep the area moist but down not over water.
Be sure to use the same type of grass as the rest of your lawn. If you are unsure ask a neighbor or compare it with pictures you can find in landscaping books. If you are still unsure ask the landscaping guy at Home Depot.

You can get a product called Weed and Feed; you could also get a block of sod with the same grass seed that is already in your lawn and cut the patches to fit the holes.

I know this is hard for you to believe but sprinkle alittle tide on the bare spots. But do not use the tide with bleach. Water it and you will see your grass coming back. My father inlaw did this and I did not think it would work but it sure did.

In the spring, get some good quality topsoil, fill in your bare spots, and plant them with grass seed. Then you need to keep it watered, but not drowned, and have lots of patience. Sometimes it takes several tries. Good luck!

the sod idea is quickest and most coverage..if you choose to use seed try raking the spot to loosen the soil a little first then seed and keep moist not soaked..should see results in about 8 days or so if not try again ...sometimes birds will eat the seeds you put down..you may need screening to cover it until it has sprouted..
