Maltese
Maltese can be very energetic and are known for their occasional wild outbursts of physical activity, running around in circles chasing their tail, and bolting at top speed with amazing agility; given this, they still do well for apartment dwellers. They are relatively easy to train and enjoy a playful game of fetch. These intelligent dogs learn quickly, and pick up new tricks and behaviours easily.
The breed has a reputation for being good-natured, but may be intolerant of small children or other dogs. They can be protective of their owner and will bark if animals or people infringe on their territory or are perceived as a threat.
For all their diminutive size, Maltese seem to be without fear. In fact, many Maltese seem relatively indifferent to creatures/objects larger than themselves (unless of course it is the owner). They are among the gentlest mannered of all little dogs, yet they are lively and playful as well as vigorous.
Maltese have hair, not fur and have little to no shedding if cared for properly

My favorite kind of dog would have to be a mut. They don't seem to suffer from the breeding problems (medical conditions) that the pure breeds do.
I have four rescues. All were picked up off of the side of a road after having been left for dead.

Golden Retriever They are energetic and always ready to play. Best children and family breed besides Labs. Very intelligent, awesome personalities. They just love people, perpetual teenagers. I have 2 loving Golden Retrievers. They are always happy. My youngest is the best watch dog I ever had.

It has to be Siberian Huskey. I have 2 of them. Not much good as watch dogs, but they are great with kids and people of all ages. Our two dogs serve as therapy dogs for the elderly and terminally ill children.

Basset Hound. I mean, whats not to like? Their droopy eyes and long ears. You can't help but to melt when they look at you.
They are obediant and very affectionant. They are one of the best loyal companions.
My basset, Lacie Lucy Lulu is a big baby. She sleeps with me everynight. She knows when its bedtime...and shes the biggest snuggle bug! When I leave, she sits at the door and waits for me to come home.
Ive had plenty of dogs in my lifetime... but bassets top my list.

The best dog I ever had was a Cairn Terrier, same breed as Toto. She was very easy to train, obedient, loyal, and affectionate.

Border Collie for me. I love this breed because they are smart and very quick to learn new things. Ours is so persistent, loving and affectionate, protective of us (yet not excessively), and highly active. I will forever love that crouching position and intense stare when they focus on something! They excel at dog sports too and we are going to try a variety of things with ours to give her some variety and spice in life :)

I would be a Bernese Mountain Dog. They're cute, cuddly, big, and friendly. They're also extremly gentle, though they get pretty heavy.
