When I send a text message, one of two symbols appear. One is a green arrow, and the other is a black check. What is the difference? I think that a black check means it was delivered to a phone, but does that mean it was actually read?

Thanks for any help!

The first one means "sending" and the second one means "sent". There is no way to knowing that the person has received it.
