It sounds like you need a wireless router. Your DSL connection should be running through a DSL modem, which connects to your computer directly, however in order to access your DSL connection wirelessly, you need to have a point of access broadcasting your DSL connection so that devices like the Wii or a wireless-enabled laptop can recognize the signal, connect, and access your DSL connection. The router's broadcast is referred to as an SSID.

I would recommend purchasing a wireless router (netgear and linksys are both popular, i've included a link to a linksys router as an example below). Your DSL modem will connect to your router, and then you will connect your computer (via cable) to your router.

It should come with instructions to set up the router correctly and make sure that wireless is enabled. Once you do this, you will use your Wii's "Internet Options" menu to configure your connection to the Internet.

Nintendo also offers a bevy of information specifically tailored to connecting the Wii to the Internet using a wireless router. I've included the link as well. I recommend the "Which router to buy?" link, as well as the guide to hooking up your Wii and wireless router (once you've made your purchase).

Now to directly answer your question about manually connecting to the Internet and the values your Wii is asking you to input...

If you have a Wireless router and your Wii is not recognizing your broadcasted connection (called an SSID), you may need to manually identify your router by entering the information you've listed (MTU, SSID, WAP / WEP security, etc). All of this information is located within your router's setup preferences and options, which you access using the instructions that came with your router (most often an IP address that you then enter a password to gain access to). If you own a Netgear, your SSID is likely defaulted to "Netgear." The same goes for Linksys routers (default: Linksys).

However, if your Wii isn't finding any available SSID's when it performs the auto connect, you likely do not have a wireless router so you will need to purchase one.

Good luck!

Im not sure what you are asking but i will try to field what i think you are... The wireless connection you look for from your Wii in the connection menu is what ever your router is named. For instance if you bought a linksys router the name would probably be LINKSYS###and whatever model number. but you can change it so your wireless home network is named. Such as a person named charlie could name his network "charlies wireless". If you are asking how to find a network, you have to have your Wii turned on and then press the home button on your wii remote, then go to wii settings, go to internet, go to connection...wireless. Select Search for wireless connection and a list will pop up of wireless networks in you area. You cant connect to just anyone, you have to have a password for most. Find your network and select it...put your password in (if you have one) and test your connection If you are asking about the Nintendo USB wireless adapter. Then you do almost the same steps. Make sure the adapter is installed, Go to the Internet connection settings on your Wii and select USB adapter. The Wii will send an electronic signal to your PC asking the user to say its ok for the Wii to use the USB adapter signal. Then test your connection. HOPE this helped
