I don't know if I would say it was phenomenal, but it was a good movie (and probably the best Disney Channel movie in a long long time). The storyline was cute and the music is catchy. Not the best musical I've ever seen, but definately good. Reminds me of the old musicals from the 40s and 50s, with a modern spin on it.

For pre-teens and teens, I say it's a good movie. It's Disney, which means it's fairly innocuous, and it has a decent message: be true to yourself despite what peer pressure says you "have" to be.
However, it's definitely not the best written, nor the best acted movie of the year. The writing is pretty trite, and the over-actors are a little hammy (even the one's who aren't supposed to be). So for the rest of us (adults, that is) it's a little bit "meh".
I wouldn't sit through it again, but I'd have no objections to buying it for my kids.

It was a pile of pish. If it didn´t have all the punblicity it would be nothing. And its also big cause kids feel like they have to like it so they don´t look stupid.
