Theoreticallt speaking if mermaids do exist, which science hasn't disproven, then they would most likely eat fish, kelp, and all kinds of other things.

Probably things like seaweed. It is edible and obviously-from the movie-she doesn't eat fish. Sebastion is horrified in the kitchen. If he had seen that kind of cooking in the sea, he owuldn't be so shocked.

She was obviously eating nothing in order to starve herself to be skinny enough to have the role in the film. Today's actresses need to be better role models and eat healthy.
