This is my first time in London and my flight into Gatwick is 830AM and my flight out of Heathrow is 550PM; therefore, I want to head into London for a few hours. Any suggestions? Anything to do if I head to Paddington?

try going to the house of commons and also to buckingham palace and if you find time you can also visit picadilly circus and the trafalgar square.....Then all you need to do is get a Picadilly line from either picadilly or westminster or st.James Park and head to the last stop heathrow.....you would need to get down at hatton cross to get across to terminal 4 though if your flight is from there.......as for the tickets are concerned, you can try to get hold of a day travel card for zones 1-6 or if you want to be cheaper then get hold of a 2-6 zone card which is quite cheaper and then travel around the zone1 on a bus......

Hope that helps......

not much unless you like sitting in traffic jams for long periods just a joke, best thing i would sujest is buy a travell card, this you can use on bus train and tube , decied what you would like to see, and then go to the furthest place first and work your self back towards heathrow.as tube journeys can take a good hour if you are crossing london , so the closer you get back to heathrow the more time you will have to get your flight. from gatwick it is about hour into centre , and about 40 min to heathrowi waould say to be on the safe side you have three hours to do a bit off site seeing , but you have to book in to heathrow a certian time before you flight so do not think youhave much time, sorry for rabbiting on hope you have a good trip

Go to Buckingham Palace. Around the corner is the Parliment building and big ben. There are boat cruises on the Thames and you can get off at various locations such as at The Tower of London or Greenwich. Go to the London Eye and you can see all of London. The London dungeon is a fun place to go as well.If that isn't enough, take a cab to Madame Tussaud's wax museum.

Stay in centre of London, Piccadilly, Trafalgar, leicester square, oxford street (do some shopping) and try to see the tower of london. 5 hours is little time to do anything else really. i dont know what london eye is but since everyone else is recommending it i would too. I left london in 1999, so i believe many novelties appeared.
Your station would be piccadilliy circus on picaddilliy line, taking bakerloo line from paddington (if bakerloo line is functional). there are trains running from piccadilly circus directly to heathrow airport (approx. 40 min. ride). Enjoy london!

Well my dear by the time you'll get out of Gatick it will be around 9.15 or so, then catch a train to Victoria, over there you can leave your bag at left luggage, look at your watch it already 11:00 am :) isn't it? well now you have 4 hours left, now what I suggest you to go to covent gardens, Trafalgar square, Leicester square, oxford street, soho, royal festival hall, Thames River Embankment , houses of Common, big Ben and look its Victoria station is round the corner go n catch your train to heathrow otherwise you will curse me if you miss your flight. Don't forget to buy a commemorative mug, pen or T shirt from souvenir shop..... Enjoy London

Hi.
Take a 30 minute trip on the London eye, followed by a one hour sightseeing bus tour. Madame Tussauds will take about 90 mins and lunch at Planet Hollywood or the Hard rock Cafe for an hour.
Have fun!
Happy new year!

Take the round-London bus tour from outside Baker Street station.Takes a couple of hours ,and you can leave it at several places en-route if you like .You can also get it at Victoria Station if you arrive on the train from Gatwick.

Book a trip on the London Eye, that way you get to see all of London from the air.

Then go shopping in Bond street.
