If it wasn't the thermocouple and it was adjusted correctly, from the flame etc. then it could only be the gas regulator. There's no way you can check that. Either call a repairman, he'll have a gage for it.

The thermocouple is bad or not positioned properly. Its about an inch long probe looking device made of brass and protrudes into the pilot flame.Has a small tube or brass wire leading back to the control unit. It detects a flame from the pilot and keeps the gas on. When no heat is detected by the thermocouple it shuts off the gas to the pilot light so you don't die of gas poison or blow up the place. It is a safety device. They do go bad and you will not be able to light the pilot without it. Be sure though that the probe is protruding into the flame when the pilot is lit. Keep the pilot button down for about a minute to heat the probe. Most thermocouples are universal. I have seen them at wal-mart. Good luck

Often the pilot burner must be cleaned to provide the hottet flame on the thermocouple. Another possible fix is to move the position slightly to increase the heat on the thermocouple. The edge of a flame is the hottest.

Given that you put the new thermocouple back into the flame of the pilot, there are only two other reasons that it wouldn't stay lit. Either it's no good or the valve, is no good. A lot of these valves have a one time fuseable link on them, that blows either from temp. overload or electrical overload. They don't reset themselves, in other words, if it blows and the pilot don't stay lit any longer you're going to have to have the valve replaced.

no one thought about a draft on pilot. does it stay on if fan is off? v does flame rise up into exchanger.main burners might need cleaning.if the pilot goes out in 30 min the valve is most likely the prob.
