It's okay if you are an idiot. I don't care who or what you are, I have a name and if you don't know it, ask. Unfortunately there is a growing number of women who seem to be replacing their female or straight friends with gay men (crudely being called "fag hags"). Not that gay male friends are a bad thing! I have no problem being friends with gay men, I know plenty, but none of them call me names. In fact, most people in my life who are usually crude, vulgar or insulting don't do that with me. I guess it is in my personality to demand a certain amount of respect. I don't disrespect anyone else by calling them outside of their name except in general terms like dude or chick, I expect at least the same courtesy in return.

Just decide that your name's Len. The second half of Galen. Nobody will think twice.

Or, go with your middle name if you like that better. Think F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Since you have a very valid reason from which you probably star to concern much about it_ I sincerely advice you to change your name virtually with a good nickname before it may star to get out of control. There are other ways that unfortuanetly I can,t mention them to you since I don,t know whether you are a minor person or an major person.
If, however, the above manage to maintain your peace inside you mind as well inside your heart.
Don't try to wait too long to change your name legally.

Stay with your name unless you dislike it. "Gay" has various meanings including being happy. If it troubles you, ask them to call you Galen. I ask everyone to call me by my given name because my name has many nick names. I just use my full name and everyone catches on eventually.

Some options:

a) Live with it.
b) Change your name
c) Show people that it gets to you. That'll stop them calling you Gay, for sure.
d) Refuse to respond unless you're adressed the way you want to be.

I know someone with that name. He also got teased a lot, to the point that he started going by his middle name, instead. You could either learn to roll with it by not getting upset when people make comments, or you can change your name.
