Your list is reasonably good. One name you left off is Darren Bent. I think he's the best English forward. Drop the beanpole (Crouch) and put Bent in.

How come no one's mentioned Gareth Barry?

I think Leighton Baines gets forward well, but maybe a year or 2 away from a full England call-up.
Matthew Taylor has shown some good form recently and is worthy of consideration, and would provide an interesting alternative to Kieran Richardson and Stewart Downing.
Joey Barton has to get a call-up based on his form this year...although his passing is still a bit waywards at times, he has shown that he is one of the Prem's better midfielders.
Nolan...a bit subdued this year but is leading Bolton very well.
Aside from that...no one else I can really think of worthy of a call-up.

i agree with all of yours apart from Reo Coker (not good enough, many better centre mindfielders) and Phil Bardsley (decent player but not playing nearly enough games and Luke Young, Jamie Carragher, Micah Richards and Gary Neville are better.
i would like to see Dawson more regularly and maybe Tom Huddlestone as cover for Hargreaves. he is a great player and can run, tackle and head the ball, unlike Carrick. Carrick is an excellent ball player but we have Lampard, Gerrard and Cole who can do that.

The players you mention are all good potential england candidates and could benefit from being called up to an international squad, but realistically none would contend for 1st team places unless there are multiple injuries in a position.
Of the lot you mentioned Nolan impressed a lot last season, but has been slighlty more subdued this season, but would be my pick

Kevin Nolan,Gareth Barry,Jermaine Defoe,Jamie Carragher,Andy Jonhson,Green (GK for the Hammers ,I forget his Christian name)MAtty TAylor,Joey Barton Reo Coker ,to name a few off the top of my head .
What we are in need of is a decent right back to replace G Neville as he's getting a little long in the tooth

Dean Ashton is by far the best partner for Rooney.

He scores with either foot and is a natural goal scorer. He can play up top or he can drift back into the midfield to find space.
His touch is great.

You won't agree this at the moment but watch out for next season.

I would have to say David James. The form he has showen since joining Pompey has been nothing short of amazing. He has made some game changing saves so far this season, the same can't really be said for Paul Robinson. I would have to say he has been one of the main reasons Pompey are doing so well.
