Relax and take a deep breath!
If you think they are going to be killer cramps they will be!
Some girls have NO pain at all, and some have killer cramps!
Sometimes mine are not bad, but sometimes they hurt so much that I would spend down time with a heating pad on my stomach (this was in high school, the cramps are NOT that bad after a bit).
There are better medications than I had when I was younger to help with the cramps and other affects of being on your period. I tried them all but Pamprin worked best for me.
Don't be scared, take it easy, and take care!

Stretch, drink CAFFEINE. Sugar, salt, eat whatever you crave. Chocolate helps. Heat helps-- no tampons, this could make cramps worse, use pads... Orgasm helps (so I've been told). Lay on your SIDE or BACK. DO NOT squinch into a ball-- this makes things worse. Light massage helps at times. noninflammatory medications (Advil ect..) Help. Take 2, or if pain is REALLY bad, take three (prescription dose, but then take 2 again in 8-12 hours to even out) Bite your tongue, suck on something (Uhh.. Thinking of every possible thing) wear socks (It helps me -_-) Cry, bite a pillow, rip up paper-- do something to ease the frustration.

I started my period at age 15. I cramped so bad that I could not walk. I had to lie on my bed with my feet propped up for a whole day, even after taking Tylenol. Only after my child was born did the cramps lessen, but I still have migraines and breast tenderness. Good luck to you.

It is different for every women so you can't predict how it will be for you.
Personally I have never had cramps. I have had a little discomfort - a yucky feeling in my tummy, but not actual pain. I have NEVER cried because of period pain.
A small amount of women have bad pain, but it doesn't mean that you will. Remember there are always painkillers if it is really bad. There are painkillers these days that specifically target period pain, so you won't need to suffer.
(In my country they are called 'naprogesic' or 'sonaflam'.
The active ingredient is naproxen sodium I think).
Good luck, and it is perfectly normal to feel scared, but I know it won't be as bad as you fear.

I don't always get cramps. And they are managable. You get used to them.
Don't be scared. Your friends are just enjoying some bragging rights and pleasure of being more 'experienced'.
Countless girls and women experience this change and have lived through it. You will be fine. Worry about it when the time comes. Don't spend another second on this thought and go have some fun.

Well I used to have bad cramps while on my period. They were so bad I'd have to miss school or work. Then I got on birth control and my periods aren't so bad anymore.
Every girl is diffrent so you might not have bad cramps. If you do there is over the counter meds you can take to help relieve the pain.

yes its true. thankfully, i dont get cramps, but some of my friedns have bad cramps. the amount that they hurt depends on your body. if you're lucky you wont have any, or they might just hurt a little, or they might be bad. but there's always medicine to take, which helps a lot! so dont be scared, it happens to everyone and you cant avoid it, so the sooner you accept it the better

It depends on how bad you get them. Some women never feel cramps, while women, like myself get doubled-over throwing up. Sorry to scare you there. But, with a heating pad, tea, and some medicine they should be unnoticeable. There's tons of remedies out there.
