Try the website http://www.flylady.net/index.asp. The Flylady is a woman who has developed a system to get and keep a house clean, and addresses how to handle bedrooms and clothing.

It's based on a few basic priciples: You can't clean or organize clutter - you need to get rid of it. Instead of trying to do a massive overhaul, do a little bit every day so you don't get overwhelmed. Start to develop some short daily routines that will allow you to keep your place tidy with practically no effort.

She has a free e-mail reminder you can sign up for, or you can just browse around the site and use what applies to you. I wish someone had shown me her system when I was your age! There have also been e-mails from people who have adapted her system for school and studying as well - you might want to do a search on her site for school stuff as well as closets.

Hey looks like we have the same problem. What I do is put all the clothes that I wear most often toward the center of the closet and when that doesn't work I have a basket on the floor for clothes I decided not to wear so that when I get home I can just hang them back up.

Ask one of your teachers if the school's copy room has long boxes that the ink refills come in. The boxes are just right to organize your socks, underwear, and all kinds of small things. You can put a colored paper label on the end and slide the boxes onto the shelf. I have several closets organized with those boxes. And they're free ... and environmentally friendly.

If you think about it, it takes longer for you to pick up your mess than it would to hang up your clothes and put your shoes away every night. However, it's easier said than done. I got this cool shoe organizer from LTD that hangs from any door. It can hold up to 30 pairs. I also have two hampers in my room: one for colored clothes and one for white. Then when it's time to do laundry, you don't have to spend extra time sorting. And just try to make yourself clean up after yourself every night. Think about the mess you will make if you let it pile up and about how much time you are going to spend cleaning it up. If you keep your room clean during the week, you'll have extra time during the weekend to do other stuff (other than cleaning). That's always a motivation for me. Good luck!
