This week there was an article in the New York Times says the pay gap has widen between men and women with four year college degrees. One of the things not mentioned is the large number of men quitting the jobs they went to college for to enter the much more lucrative blue collar field. Starting incomes for certified blue collar workers is running 25% higher than that for for college graduates. A certified electrician, with just six months training, has a starting income of over $60,000. I had an executive from a trucking company in my taxi cab and he said that nearly half of those driving for him had college degrees.

The bottom line is college graduates earn more than non college graduates...and, unfortunately, yes it is true...There is still a gap between men and women as far as earning power...Men have the upper hand...

And as far as the post about electricians, that is most likely if they work overtime...50-60 hours...while a college grad sticks to full time (40) hours a week for the pay...

There is a gap between male and female college grads. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (most likely the source for the figures cited in the NYT article) reports that there is quite a difference between male and female wages, whether college graduate or not.
