The Penguins likely will stay put right in Pittsburgh..where they belong. All the casino deal did was prove how ignorant the city officials are, they turned down an opportunity to get a free stadium and now will build a new one on the taxpayers dime. Remember the Steelers and Pirates both leveled the same moving threats and it took to the bitter end for each to get a new stadium, the Pens will see the same thing happen. Right now there are very few viable moving options, we've all heard the rumors of KC (seriously does anyone think they can get 15,000 fans a night filling a stadium) and other outposts. Hamilton looks like the best dollars wise but first the Maple leafs and Sabres would have to sign off on it because of territory rights deals they sign with the NHL when the become franchises. That wont happen, neither is willing to risk their dollars for another team. That leaves keeping them in Pittsburgh as the best option, too bad the city officials dont mind spending the fans money on a stadium.

It doesn't make it a lead pipe cinch, but it doesn't help the cause of keeping them in town.

Lemieux wants to keep the team in Pittsburgh but has no arena deal and the Penguins lease at the Igloo runs out after this season. So Lemieux is forced to fall on the old owner's dodge of extortion to get an arena deal from the city of Pittsburgh or the team leaves Pittsburgh.

From what I heard on HNIC Satellite Hotstove this past Saturday, all the potential bidders for the Penguins haven't made themselves public yet. This will be an interesting side story for the rest of the year.

No they are not definitely moving. The city is already working on plan B, they have some land to buy. They are trying to decide where the money will come from. The Pens will probably have to pitch in, which is why Mario is angry since Ilse of Capri was free. Don't worry, both the Stillers and Pirates Plan A got voted down and Plan B was offered within a couple of weeks.

They aren't sure what they are going to do yet. The team has been pulled off the market and Mario is looking at possiable relocation, he may also go along with "Plan B" and stay in Pittsburgh. At the moment they are supposed to be talking about "Plan B" and deciding where to go from there. He said he is looking at moving them as well.

It does not mean they are definitely going to move. They could, but I think Mario will do everything he can to keep them in Pittsburgh.
