Well... In the shows they move their arms!
And it looks really nice! Lord of the Dance it's my favourite show, but I like the dancing of Riverdance actually.
The steps are the same but I saw Lord of the Dance in live and now my opinion it's different.
They dance better in Riverdance but I like the music, the choreography and the story line of Lord of the Dance better than the other show.
But actually there are a lot of shows of irish dancing!

I've done Irish dancing since I was 6 years old and I love it! It's really good fun to do and the audience always seem to love it too. I don't really compete much - I do it more for fun really but I do know girls who compete all the time and who want to dance proffessionaly. It's hard work though and some of them train 4 days a week!
Unfortunately, lots of people I know stopped when they first went to secondary school because it wasn't a 'cool' thing to do. They didn't want anyone from their school to see them dancing in case they took the mickey out of them. Its nice to see that lots of people who've answered you seem to like it though, and not think its stupid, or weird.
Anyway, in answer to your question, I love Irish dancing, and think that anyone who gets the chance to should give it a go because its good fun, and it certainly helps you keep fit.

I enjoy anything Irish, as I have a lot of Irish heritage. Alas, my parents don't care much for this, but my grandparents have.
I love listening to Irish music, and my 16th birthday present was a trip to see "Lord of the Dance-Riverdance" it was awesome in the true definition of the word.
So, in short, I love it!

Well I like it a lot to it's just ashame how the rules in England were that they couldn't dance so they had to keep there upper body with NO movement at all so that they didn't know what they were doing....but other wise I like it a lot, you have to be very tallented.

Having an Irish Mother also Irish aunt and cousins whom we lost touch with them when the troubles reared its head in '60s we spent a long time in tracing them and quite a lot of hols. over there looking. We saw a lot of Irish dancing which my wife thought fantistic we were out for drinks to the pubs near every night we were there, the Irish people were so friendly a great time was had, they had us up to the Irish dancing but I know when to leave it to the pro's. I am a Scot. our highland dancing is good but I say the Irish dancing tops it by miles,River Dance Icould watch all night.By the way, by stroke of luck we finally over the Internet we found one cousin he led us to them all, who we have been visiting for three years now. the Internet is a great tool.
Bye for now and a Happy and Prosperous New Year to all.

I like all dancing, including Irish dancing. However, I wouldn't say it's my favorite. For me at least, the exclusion of any arm movement seems to severely limit its vocabulary.
