Before you connect the camera to your computer with a USB or any other cable, follow the instructions that came with your camera. In most cases you are instructed to install the camera software before you connect the camera, but depending on the compute; you may only need to connect the camera because the software is already installed. If the camera does not work, disconnect the camera and then install the camera software. Then connect the camera and it should say found new hardware. Follow the instructions on the screen.

As Sir J said, the USB into the computer, the other end in the camera. Sometimes the camera's connection is hiding behind a flap on the camera. Look it over, it has to be there.

The places to plug the USB cord into should look something like this:

They will be located on the back of your computer near where the keyboard and mouse connect. Please note that if your computer is too old, you may not have USB and may need to buy the appropriate PCI card to add ports to your system.

Two likely positions: On the backside where you plug in your
mouse and keyboard. On the front. Maybe behind some
shutter. I've seen them behind shutters on the side and top
as well. You should be able to find them. They look quite
unique. Just make sure you dig through all possibly available
"hideouts". ;)

There should be a slot in the back of a Desktop Tower, or on the side of a laptop. Hope this helps.
