I love southern accents and not just because I have one! LOL I like accents from all over and I find it fascinating to learn what country another person is from and exactly where they hail from in that country...there are also many variations in the southern accent as some have pointed out as well...we sometimes get a bum rap because people equate our intelligence with the way we talk...which is not true at all...some of the most intelligent people in the world have a southern drawl ya'll! LOL

My husband is a trucker and has to go up north every week. He says they all kid with him about being a bumpkin but he's just proud as pie of his accent. I wonder if there are things they can't understand us whn we say because sometimes I can't understand Northerners too well! Hey from Alabama! We do have the extra thick hillbilly accent!

Born in the Northeast but grew up in the South. Now reside in the midwest (kinda. lol). Most people I deal with think that my southern accent is cute. It's just in certain words though.

Now my Kentucky family...I find them hilarious. Love to hear them talk. :P

I am from the South and just from what other people have told me, a slight southern drawl is charming but sounding like a backwards hillbilly is not.

I'm Australian and people say I talk to much and to fast. My neighbors went to America for archery and said it was annoying hearing all the people saying "oh my gosh" with an American accent. Me I don't care.

Happy New Year.

I was born and raise in the South (Louisiana) and people outside of the U.S and northerners told me it was cute, charming, and sweet because of the drawl and the laid back way we talk. Even though, they can't understand the words it sometimes.
