In my area we have cable and there are literally 300+ channels.

I'm an American. I watch something like five hours of TV per week, if that much. I don't think that's excessive at all. I'd rather read than watch TV, and so would most of my friends. There may be hundreds of channels to choose from, but you can still flip through the dial and notice that there's nothing worth watching. Hundreds of channels, if most of those channels are total crap, is not exactly an exciting choice.

Scary, isn't it. People love to be entertained. TV definitely supplies enough entertainment to keep someone occupied 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

most don't want to think on their own and want the television to do the thinking for them. (no original thought, only think in cliches)
