I am not American, and I have travelled the world. Some people do find the the American accent sexy. Sigmund Freud loved the accent when used by a woman and wrote about it in his scientific studies. It's like this, if it is foreign it's out of the ordinary and therefore exotic. If it's exotic some people are going to find it appealing, but not everybody all of the time. There it is.

I've been told by more than one Brit that they love my accent and I always return the compliment and no I have never been laughed at because of it...I find a Brit accent very sexy and they seem to like my southern lilt as well...it's all good to me!
I have a very dear friend who has a Boston accent and it always makes me smile so I guess it depends on the person involved as well...I personally like a Boston accent!

I think very strong southern and east coast accents come across as ignorant. When I was in Texas I got sick of clerks saying, "Can I "hep" ya.

I don't know what your accent is, so I really can't comment. I do tend to like accents, however.
