i hav the penn-plax smallworld filter and pump kit.....its in my one gallon tank yet, i hav no idea how strong i should adjust the bubbles with the adjustment valve......i also hav an aquarium check valve but with tat, the bubbles arnt very strong.....how strong should the bubbles be?is it okay if i place the filter sideways in the tank (the height of my tank is smaller than the filter so i just place it sideways on another end of the tank) no dumb answers please!!!!!!!!!

I have my pump about half open. But again this will depend upon the size of your pump and the size of the aquarium.

The filter will function pretty well with the check valve in the line ,its important to keep the check valve in the system if the air pump is set up lower than the water level in the tank,because it prevents water from siphoning back into the pump in case of a power outage. If the filter is clean it will work just fine, if its not clean it doesn't matter how much air you put through it. Good luck PeeTee
