In the Fall, you should go to Western MA, around the Berkshires for beautiful fall foliage! It is a short day or overnight trip from Boston, with nice restaurants, fall festivals, Bed & Breakfasts, apple picking, etc. Also, go to Salem, MA and check out the historic areas from the Witch Trials. Obviously, you can spend days in Boston doing TONS of tourist things, like the Freedom Trail, musuems, etc. Also, you might want to go to Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. In the fall it will be too cold for the beaches, and some things will start to close up for the season, but it's probably still worth the trip. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

For Places In Boston:
The Museum or Fine Arts
The Museum of Science
If you have Children...The Boston Children's Museum.

Definitely go out to Western Mass to see the foliage. It's beautiful.

There are also some great festivals going on around Halloween. I don't know when in the fall you're going.

And Cape Cod is also a must see...My favorite places on the Cape, Falmouth, Eastham, Chatham, Welfleet and Hyannis

Besides Boston, you could also check out Cape Cod as it is less crazy during the fall season than the summer. Hit Hyannis or go the very end up in Provincetown

Boston. It's a wonderful walking city, full of history.
If you like shopping, go to Newbury St.

Salem would be a great day trip from Boston.
