In this case I'd be more worried about the keyhole than the barbs, when in small groups tiger barbs are notorious fin nippers and would probably harass the poor keyhole. If the barbs are in groups of 8 or more they tend to be a bit more "sociable". A 20g tank is what some consider a bare minimum for keyhole, personally I would not put them in a tank under 30g. "All cichlids are aggressive killers" is a myth there are many that are adequate for community tanks and semi-aggressive tanks (barb tank for example), just have to make sure you do a little background check on the particular species.

Actually you can probably keep your keyhole with tiger barbs in a 20 gallon tank.

Contrary to the first poster not all cichlids are aggressive. Keyhole cichlids are one of the more docile cichlids and could be kept with other fast fish such as barbs.

No, any kind of Cichild is aggressive. The older they get the more aggressive they become. Tiger barbs don't stand a chance.
