I think it would definitely be the lack of privacy---everything they do, from going to the grocery store to going on their honeymoon to going to the doctors---is broadcasted on the cover of tabloids and inside tabloids. Sure, some enjoy the publicity and the attention, that maybe why they became celebrities, but not to that extreme of being photographed without your consent or even awareness of it and being photgraphed doing things that you don't want to be photographed but just want privacy, such as spending time with family, on a bad hair day, jogging in the morning, etc. Also, they always get rumors spread about them by the paparazzi and by other people, such as on the internet, and the rumors are true and sometimes not. But either way, it's bad. I think also celebrities are constanly put on a pedestal and being scrutinized on what they're wearing, they have pressure to look good and dress nice all the time, and if they don't, they get made fun of for it. People rag on them because they out themselves out there. Furthermore, once somebody is a celebrity, a lot of times they can never go back "to their old life". Even if they don't want to be famous anymore, and be an unknown, people will always recognize and remember them, esp. the things they don't want to be remembered by (e.g., Britney Spears' recent photo). It's like they're binded by life by fame, like an invisible contract, as well as the literal contracts they may sign. I used to think it would be cool to be a famous actress, but now that I see what these tabloid magazines do to them, I change my mind.

I used to think that it would be cool to be a celebrity. Of course, that was when I was a lot younger too. Back then you heard about the things that celebrities did, but it didn't seem like you heard about it as much as you do now. Nowadays, you're constantly hearing about something that a celebrity did or does, who they're going out with, when they get married, and all sorts of other stuff. They're privacy is constantly being invaded by the media. The tabloids are the worst because when something happens they twist it around to make it worse than it really is. They're always under a microscope to be picked at and humiliated. It's a wonder why some of them start drinking and doing drugs. I really don't think I could ever handle the stress. I'd probably have a nervous breakdown or something. I guess that's why I changed my mind a long time ago about it being cool to be a celebrity.

How about absolutely no privacy. Getting stalked by the media and not being able to do anything about it. Being scrutinized about everything from your hair to how much weight you have gained over the weekend. How about something embarrassing happening to you and it being played on tv over and over again. There is a big downside to being a celebrity but that's the price they pay.

You can't go shopping, see a movie, rent a DVD, or go to a restaurant unless you want to spend 4 hours talking to people.
The upside is that you can break absolutely any law you want and not only get away with it, but become a "role model" for doing it.

No privacy, always having to say the "right" thing, look the "right" way, behave the "right" way. Because the paparazzi win zoom in on any little thing and exploit it.

Paparazzis, and also reporters even tell about their little stories very exaggerating, and putting lies up all in it similar to yellow-journalism in War with Cuba.

i was a radio announcer for a number of years and people associate you with what they hear on radio, they could care less about you personally and along with no privacy you have to watch what you say as it can get back to work very very quick with disatrous results...you always have to be on your guard.
