I've had this problem for year with dress shirts. I changed my anti-pirsperant from a white cake type to a clear gel and it seems to have really reduced the problem. I didn't change brands, just the type. I've also had good luck with adding oxy-clean to the laundry to help brighten laundry.

the "stains" may actually be from antiperspirant, not just plain old sweat.
anyways, there are so many possible tricks to try that you might as well try them all. You've already discovered that bleach doesn't work, so try:
vinegar
any oxy-based color bleach
hydrogen peroxide
boiling clothes for 10-20 minutes
ammonia
whitening toothpaste
I wouldn't try this all at once because your shirts may disintegrate, but it's worth a shot.
Sometimes the stain isn't sweat stains. Its antiperspirant that didn't get washed out and then got baked on in the dryer.
If bleach won't get it out I, personally, don't know anything that will (although someone else on here may). If you figure that everytime a shirt is worn it is worn with deodorant or antiperspirant, you can imagine how if small amounts are left on with every wash it would build up.
There is, however, a bluing agent you can get in the laundry aisle; and it is meant to make clothes whiter (with the subtle blue tint it leaves on clothes). You could try that if that stains aren't too bad. You have to make sure not to use too much, or you'll dye your clothes blue.

some years in the past, I spoke of as the TIDE and CHEER shopper provider departments to be sure a thank you to do away with the yellow stains. They informed me to apply a bar of cleansing soap ahead of washing the shirts interior the washer. The cleansing soap bar could get rid of deoderant caught to the shirt, the comparable way we it cleans bodies. (I additionally tried liquid cleansing soap yet that did no longer paintings.) on occasion, I nevertheless had faint yellow spots. i stumbled on it powerful to pour lemon juice on the stain, pour salt onto it and then enable it take a seat interior the solar for some million hour.

spray them with a stain remover (like Shout for example) about an hour before you launder them. OR if it's ok for the particular fabric a pre-wash soak in some water with a bit of bleach acts as a good preventive.
It's fairly difficult to get rid of the yeloowing once it is there. It's better to spray them before you wash them (all the time).
