How do you know? am I just sad and discouraged? How can I be more happy?

The thing is this world is not our real home. It is called Maya (illusion) It is temporary and full of misery. We are not these bodies,IE; race, color, nationality, religion, senses, intellect, job etc. We are eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu etc. No one can actually be truly happy in this world unless they connect to Him. The quickest way out of illusion and misery is to chant the Maha Mantra or the great mantra fro deliverance from suffering and illusion. go to stephen-knapp. for details- read e-book The Key to Real Happiness. also go to krishnaculture. for more info. Read Bhagavad Gita As it is and Chant and be Happy with George Harrison by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada. Everyone is depressed or in some kind of illusion of so called happiness. Only one froth of the souls come to the material world. (the less intelligent ones) We have to take up the process to reconnect or there is no real happiness here. Watch DVD The Trueman Show with Jim Carry to get an idea of what I mean.

you don't need a formula to "know" that you are depressed. We are actually the ones who MAKE ourselves DEPRESSED and feed this depression by certain mindsets.

I cannot tell you how to be more happy but I suggest that you avoid the thinking patterns of depressed people. Some of the main patterns are:

1) Generalization: e.g., I failed in my relationship with M therefore I am such failure in relationships. Also, generalizing the current not-so-good expectations to your expectancy of the future.

2) Internal Attribution: e.g., I failed the test because I am stupid.

It would be better to think about other factors that are external to yourself (e.g., the test was hard) rather than attributing all negative consequences to yourself. Also, it is better to think that you have not studied well (i.e., it is a specific instance that you can control next time) rather than to think that this is your ability (i.e., stable, can't be changed).

What kind of thoughts make you more depressed? Find these out and challenge them, even if you have to write down all the reasons you can think of which make these thoughts unrealistic.

I suggest that you also take the time to reflect on your life and think what would make you happier. Only you can figure that out and set realistic goals for taking action.

You can be depressed if you're sad and discouraged. That is just a mild form of it.

Depression is anger directed inward. You need to find what is making you angry or discontented and focus on fixing the problem instead of internalizing it.

Either that or medication lol.

How long have you been feeling like that?? Find the company of someone you enjoy, rent some nice comedies. Maybe you are feeling like that due to the Holiday season, it always happens to me, i cry if i see any of the commercial of little kids in Africa, cry easily, but now i just decide that it will go away.
Remember just hang in there, the sun will come up in the morning, and you will feel better> All the best for 2007.

You feel it you get the point when you do not want to get out of bed it's like if the whole world is going on with out you, you saty away from it all you do not want to know anything or anyone your world sord off pause

i think being really depressed means ur thinking about committing suicide. to be more happy..i suggest find something to do that will take ur mind off ur problems..talk to a friend or a therapist..go to church..theres too many to name..just remember God will never give u a problem that u cant handle
