He's not getting enough fluids. Try pedialyte and keep the doctor updated on his progress.

addition: If he wont drink pedialyte, try gatorade. One of my children liked the taste of that better and it comes in lots of flavors and colors to appeal. Let us know how he's doing.

just make sure his drinking and don't be looking for nine diapers hes 9 months old at that age he should be drinking more then 4 oz see if you can raise it to 6 oz every 3 hrs and give him some apple juice in between, always ask the doctor they know best.

Hope he feels better soon

4oz every three hours is not very much for a child that's 9 months. He should be drinking at least 6 if not 8. He should also be eating regular foods. You can offer him water or pedialyte with his normal meals. You should really check with the doctor on this one!

You do NOT attempt to medicate a 2 year old baby without consulting a doctor. If he was in hospital, then you need to discuss it with his attending physician. That is what doctors are for, and Yahoo Q & A is really not the place to be looking for unprofessional advice, other than the advice that I, and I hope others, give you.... see a doctor.

Of course he pees more with the IV in him. The IV is constantly giving him water and he'll pee more. Just keep giving him milk and he'll be fine the next couple of days.

pedialyte!!!! The electrolytes help sooooo much. I work in a personal; care home, and some of our residents get uti"'s, and dehydrated, we feed them lots of water and pedialyte. If you are still having trouble, go back to the dr's. gatorade has a lot of electrolytes too. good luck. p.s. if he does go pee and it is very dark urine, like beer colored, call the dr. don't give any meds

This is very serious. You need to call your pediatrician RIGHT NOW. Dehydration can lead to death, particularly in such a young child. Please don't listen to yahoos on answers. Just call the doctor and tell them your baby is producing only one wet diaper per 24 hours.

I do not think you want to be guessing what is wrong with him, or how to help/treat him. Call your pediatrician at minimum, and ask if you should bring him in again.

It doesn't take much to compromise the health of ill 9 mo old.

he might have a bladder infection, sounds bad to guess this but it can also be a kidney issue as well. Get an appointment just to be safe a child that young shouldn't be having a problem like this with regular liquids coming in.

Since he is nine months old try and give him cranberry juice and water it down a little because it is kind of strong for him. and if he drinks formula or regular milk try and give him less of that. Give him Popsicles. Not a lot of thick liquids.
