Rock Vs. Rap?

Okay I'd like as many answers as possible. Best support of why their genre is superior and why the other is inferior gets 10 points!

"Another major characteristic of rap, is the stupid *** ******* shitty lyrics that a bunch of "bad *** muthas" try to sing over the equally stupid *** ******* shitty drum machine and synthesizers. These lyrics are basically always about how they just busted a phat cap in their homeez azzes. Or about how "life is hard in the ghetto". Nobody ******* gives a **** how life is in the ghetto, last time I was in the ghetto my wallet got stolen, so shut the **** up.





Other **** I Hate About Rap

Theres lots of other stuff about rap I hate. For one thing, its the horrible glamorization of it and its "artists". For example, I'd like any rap fan out there to tell me who wrote the music to any rap song (and none of those ******* cheap puffy songs count, cause he always just uses other peoples music, thus ruining the original song because his new "lyrics" ******* suck). I mean who wrote the MUSIC, not the lyrics, which are written by the stupid *** rappers. I'll tell you who wrote the music, a bunch of people you've never heard of in your life, and never will, who know how to operate drum machines and computers. Basically, the rap "artist" asks them to make a real "phat" beat, they do so until its "phat" enough, then the rapper dubs in the lyrics over it. Ever notice that at rap "concerts" theres about 30 people in the background, aside from the ******* stupid rapper and the 90 backup dancers, that you've never seen in your life? Those would be the people I'm talking about. But of course, the rap "artist" always gets 100% credit for their new "song". However, I can tell you exactly who wrote both the lyrics and music to say, the Metallica song "The Call of Ktulu". The 4 (original) members of Metallica did, and they played the ******* song themselves, with actual instruments (REAL drums, for example). I would like to see any rap "artist" pick up any real instrument and do anything impressive with it. Oh but wait, I made a mistake, "The Call of Ktulu" doesn't have lyrics, because its whats called an instrumental song. Of course in the rap world, nobody knows what the hell that means. Theres no instrumental rap songs, cause they would be ******* boring as hell. And theres not a single rapper or rap fan who can appreciate the talent it took to record a song like The Call of Ktulu.
Another thing I hate, is the ******* stupid rap fans themselves. These are the people who always argue that rap is superior to metal and rock (or basically any other style of music) because all that kind of music is just noise. Or, for example, this person I know who wheres a sock on his head once said that Metallica is just about Satan, and its just grunting or something. Well for one thing, Metallica has never made one song glorifying Satan at all. That job is reserved for shitty goth bands like Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel, and the ******* stupid ignorant rap fans get these bands confused with bands such as Metallica. They also often assume that all people who like Metallica, also like Korn, as if thats a rule. Metallica is one of my favorite, if not my favorite band, and I personally HATE Korn. Korn is just MTV's version of metal. All the stupid *** people at school who like Korn are those ******* ***** who think they are cool or something cause apparently liking Korn makes them different and strange, and therefore cool. Well, its a shame they are EXACTLY LIKE ALL THE OTHER KORN FANS, and so they aren't different at all. Of course, as much as I hate Korn and all those other shitty grunge bands that people get confused with Metallica, they all have about 300% more talent than any rapper.

Comparing rock to rap is like trying to compare apples to oranges. There are quite a few different genres of rock. How many different genres of rap are there? One, maybe two?. Definately rock is better. Sometimes the lyrics may not be as poetic or devisive but more often than not, the overall musical talents (playing the instruments) are superior.

I personally prefer rock. It has original building blocks of music where as rap usually will borrow (steal, sample) other genres of music, rock stands by itself. I heard some rap song that sample led zepplin the other day. Rap samples rock and roll , but rock does not sample rap there's something to that don't you think? The inferior borrowing for the superior. There are some groups that do combine rap and rock succesfully such as red hot chili peppers lincoln park etc but they are completly original.

I've never been a fan of rap. It is born on the streets which tells you it is not decent music. They swear a lot and nowadays it is vulgar music. Thay talk about women and stuff. It's definitely not my style. Rock is a lot better. It is more classical there are a whole lot more artists singing rock than rap. I just like it better. Yo play instruments in Rock in Rap all you need is your mouth and words that ryhme. It is a whole lot more challenging to be a rock artist than to be a rap artist. And in Rock you have amazing bands like Aerosmith, The Strokes, ACDC,U2 and so much more. Rock ON!

pro's and con's Rap
Pro - great for younger generation bar hoppers and that sort of growd! <-- we all go there some never come out but most of us grow up!
con - suggestive too much sexually driven predicable! lack of musianship get a riff sample it and rythmes so words!

pro's con's Rock!
Pro-'s - there is more musianship with guitar drums vocals bass and other crazy items depending on what band!
they all play life there is no sampling...
You can dance to the upbeat stuff!
it makes you think.

con's - ummm some of it sounds a lot alike!

I don't know i like both i perfer rock but i work in an urban Hip hop stations!
I do love them both! but Rock has more adult themes
not that rap dont! but there are so many differnt types you have hip hop R&B <-- LOVE IT gansta getto rap! you konw when you killing everbody for some shoes because someone spilt there booze! i mean some of the words are corney!

but the Beats that sampleing is an art in it self!
so there is no winner! i wouldn't want to live without either!
and i think the peeps who don't give the other genra of music a try that they are close minded!
and it's okay to like 2 kinds of music!

ROCK RULEZ!!!!! Rap is o.k. on some songs but mostly ROCK!! Take 50 Cent for instance, compare his Muzic to Panic! at the Disco. He'z always tlkin bout Sex and he'z degrading to women. But Panic! at the Disco on the other hand mostly tlks bout real life situations and, just, other thangs than gettin the woman.

Ya know, u can hardly ever understand rap. Country'z good also but i like Rock the best!!!!! Some Rock Bands are: Panic! at the Disco, Greenday, The Fray, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, Good Charlotte, My Chemical Romance, Nickelback, Metallica, Hinder and many MANY more, compare them to some Rap people like: 50 Cent, Ludachris, Akon, Eminem, Young Joc, and Many others that i don't know! I listen to rap somtimes but usially its either Rock or Country and some Hiphop. I don't listen to just one genre of music! But in rock they use a band. Lots of pretty singing and they use their best voice. They have people in the backround singing. I just LOVE Rock music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rap artists are nothing but talentless hacks who sit around thinking of words that rhyme. Rock artists on the other hand have to come up with melodies, harmonies, play instruments, write lyrics so on and so forth. It takes waaayyy more talent to be a rock musician than a rap "artist".

Rap is good but can't hold a candle to Rock in sales, sellout concerts, number 1 hits, more recognized songs. Every and I mean every Sports event in the world plays QUEEN "we will rock you "

rock is way better it has real meaning and feeling behind it. there is more variety in how it sounds and what the songs are about,. rap is all the same either they got shot, got rich, or had sex with a girl. and they copy beats off other people. thiers no sincerity to it. alot of rockers write thier own music and lyrics most of the rappers dont they all want dr dre or pharrel or who ever else is hot at the time to write thier music for them.

I'm really into rock music because it relates to my life. Not only that, but rock music is about so many things. For example, rock music talks about relationships that have gone bad, love, friendship(some rock bands)..lol, also how bad their childhood was terrible cause of their parents---> like no matter how hard they would try, it wouldnt be good enough.
Rap is usually about girls, drugs, sex..stuff that most ppl can't relate to. For me, for example, i like things that i can relate too..that makes me feel a lot better. So ROCK music is the BEST!!!! =]
