Maybe not hurt as much as odd and different but it is a good thing. I was scared and didn't use them till college, didn't know what I was missing out on. Go for it

It's not searing pain, but it does ache a little bit. First, learn how to put one in properly - this take a little bit, but there's usually a pamphlet on the tampon box. If it hurts, either take it out or try to ignore it. If you can't ignore it, take it out - and never leave a tampon in for more than eight hours MAXIMUM.

It should not hurt too bad. It may be alittle uncomfortable the first time. I don't remember any pain my first time trying them out. I love tampons, they are SO much better then pads. I feel so much cleaner and better. Just make sure you relax when you put it in, and do not force it.

It can be painful if you are still a virgin and its possible you will tear the hymen (all virgins have one, a little barrier inside of the vagina). But the use of the tampon is up to you.

Not true.
If you put it in correctly, you don't feel it at all.
I started using tampons as a virgin and I never felt them.
