World of Warcraft Beginner?

Hey all, Im thinking of playing WoW and I wanted to know what I needed (eg, CD, program, etc) and how I could get the new Burning Crusade expansion pack (BloodElves....Shibby!)

All ur answers will be greatly appreciated!

Before investing alot of money into the game, try the free 10 day trial at worldofwarcraft.com

If you decide that you enjoy it, go out and buy the game at any store that carries PC games: Circuit City, best buy, Game Stop, etc etc. it usually costs between $20 and $40, depending on where you live. I've seen prices rise with the new expansion coming out.

It comes on a CD, which you just download, but I beleive it is also availible as an online download if you try the trial (don't quote me on that..It's what I've heard through the grapevine).

For the expansion, go out to any store and request a preorder for TBC. There are two types coming out: The regular and the special edition. They both play regularly on the computer, but the special edition comes with a bunch of freebias - trading cards, a new mouse pad, etc etc. The special edition is costing me $70, but I already have a $20 deposit on it. ;) It's usually safer to put a deposit on a video game preorder, since they usually give out the preorder to people who have invested some money first. The non-special-edition is $60, I think, but again, it varies by area.

Just so you know, if you plan on playing World of Warcraft with a friend, make sure you are on the right side and the right server. I made my first toon on Malygos, Horde. I found out my friend was on alliance, and then I found out ym boyfriend was on Silverhand, Alliance. So now my main, a level 60 warrior, is on Silverhand. There are four types of servers: Normal, which is like any normal MMORPG server, PvP, which is player versus player and allows you to kikll the opposing faction, RP which is roleplaying - so far my favorite type of server since you can chose to roleplay or not (silverhand is roleplay), and RPPvP, which is roleplay player versus player. If you make a charecter on a PvP server, you can only have charecters for that faction - so if you make horde, then you cant make alliance and vice versa.

One thing that noone addressed is that after to purchase and install the game you need to create your account. the cd key will come with the game but to activate and account you need a credit card. no way around this. you can cancel the subscription after you create the account so the card is not billed and after the free 30 days you get with the game you can just buy a game card otherwise your credit card will be billed the 15 bucks every month to play.
