I am divored and remarried. When I remarried I filled out papers to change my beneficiary on my life insurance and 401 from my Ex to my current husband. They still have not made this change. I am in the process of doing this again, but is my current husband protected if I should die before this change occurs?
Thanks!

No, your current husband is not protected unless you have a will specifically stating this and even then he may not be. You need to get on them and make sure they get this changed ASAP. Just because you are no longer married to your ex husband does not mean your current husband will get the money. All that matters is whose name is on it.

No-your life insurance and 401k's are bound by documents that you signed indicating your wishes, which overrides any implied beneficiary status/inheritance that would be implied by laws that apply to married individuals. He is not protected until new documents are signed changing him to the beneficiary.
