He is right handed in the Wii version. If you play left handed it doesn't swap over. But the innovation of the Wii controller is pretty cool: fishing, sword fighting, and using the slingshot. I personally think it's better. The graphics are crisper and the water effect are better. Go with the Wii.

If you want a left handed Link and classic controls, get the GameCube version, it's playable in both the GameCube and the Wii.
If you want better graphics and unique controls, get the Wii version, it's playable only in the Wii.
Since Nintendo kept promoting the neutrality of the Wii's controller that cab used by both left handed and right handed, maybe they will release an update so that Link can be left handed again.

the "handed-ness" issue with Link in the Wii version has been pretty well covered here.
there is another reason to opt for the Wii version of TP over the GC version -- the 16:9 widescreen support is only available on the Wii version of the game.
if you have a widescreen TV, the Wii version is a must. i'm a southpaw but playing the Wii version isn't a bother...even if i prefer that Link himself wield his sword in his left hand...
happy gaming!

What you heard is true about Link, but no it won't swap if you're left handed. I'd get it for Gamecube if I were you as it's gets tiring swinging your arm to swing that sword much faster than it does to hit a button. But it's also a great workout! (If you switch arms too, which gets hard as well)

no, sadly it doesnt, you will still be right handed in the game...i think there should be a left handed option in LoZ:TP...i would still advise getting it for the wii though, its awsome, and it shouldnt be too hard to adapt to swinging with your right hand...

If you hold the wii-mote in your left hand, Link will be left handed, likewise, if you hold it in your right hand, he will be right handed.
