As a college prof with years of experience I can say that yes I prepped on Monday for wed and wed for Fri I know my subjects intimately as I also practice what I teach so the information is easy and fun I never practice my lectures because students ask questions and you have to spend time on qualities answers for those questions otherwise what is the point and I always encourage interaction between students and myself.
Yes from time to time nerves set in I stuttered horribly for over 25 years and every so often on a special occasion I will feel that coming back to haunt me and I have to fight it because I teach on television, in the classroom and also a big auditorium with a broadcast mic and that class is usually about 100 students so if I would give in I could become nervous again

Wow, what a query! as with all imaginative interest, each and every person does it slightly diverse. whilst coaching a clean class i attempt to envision the e book in the previous the class starts off, prepare a calendar of what i think of i'm coaching daily/week. Then i attempt to prepare adequate lecture textile for a minimum of a pair of instructions. If this is a clean direction, i'm oftentimes purely some steps ahead of my scholars through fact i'm unsure how long my college room activities, lectures, interactions with the class will take (so i'm oftentimes revising on the fly.) If i've got taught the class for many words, then I oftentimes have a good concept of ways i visit shape the class. I start up by using placing out my calendar for the time era. I oftentimes do the 1st week, then flow to the tip of the time era and paintings my formerly. My instructions are in no way the same, so in the previous each and every time era i'm looking over new supplies, coming up new lecture textile, new activities, and crawling the internet searching for something i think of will make the class greater exciting. I nonetheless get worried whilst i'm attempting something new (and hoping for a particular reaction from the class), and once I’m coaching a clean direction. i don't prepare my lectures (in spite of the incontrovertible fact that i don't likely lecture a lot). i be attentive to my textile interior and out. I prepare a PowerPoint of the factors significant factors, and lay out an schedule of ways i think of i visit spend the class time. (Intro interest, lecture, class interplay, interest, wrap-up, assign homework.) Yikes, i for my section opt to come again to preparing for next time era (what I got here into my place of work to do.)

My husband is a prof of many years. He does not practice his lectures any more, but he is constantly reading and writing things. Like the other person said - he is SOOooooo up on his subject that he could spout off for 5 hours nonstop if necessary.
He does prepare a term's set of goals, and a weekly schedule of material that must be convered for the term, and knows what the exams will be about.
"Nerves? What is that?" he'd say!!

Yes, they do of course. I think those good and great professors worldwide would say something like: The more you advance in years of teaching, the more you need to prepare yourself well. It does not make sense or it is purely a misunderstanding that professors do not have to prepare anything, they simply go to the lectern and preach. They may do that sometime but it's not definitely a wise way of their scholarship & professorship. Their students do not want less knowledge and inspiration from unprepared lessons, they attend universities for good and great lessons from imminent and learned professor; they would appreciate such lessons for ever.

You'll be fine. Usually one prepares a week ahead of lectures. I would read continuously on the subject until it became second-nature to talk about it. Just cram like a student.
