i would try destin first. but panama was pretty good. they have a nice state park.

Hi, there !
The distance between Houston and PanamaCIty, Fla. is approximately 650 miles. (maybe longer, depending on possible detours for hurricane repairs on Interstate 10 along the coast in Louisiana and Mississippi. Approximate travel time is a little over 10 hours. (Allow at least an hour for a meal break on the trip, and you are talking about 12 hours. )
As I remember, Panama City beaches are gorgeous ! About 25 miles of white sand beachfront, and a real delight. Chamber of Commerce touts it as one of the best beaches in America, according to several writers and sources. Good swimming and sunbathing.

The Beach is great! The sand is clean and the water is usually blue or green unless there has been a storm recently. The waves are not big enough to surf usually unless it is a Red flag. There is the "strip" that runs parallel to the beach that has tons of stores and places to eat. Destin is probably a better place to go though...
