About a year or so ago I saw a documentary program on PBS, called "Stealing Time - The New Science of Aging" that was about the scientists who spend all day, every day doing exactly that--trying to slow or stop the process of aging. They were having progress and breakthroughs and everyone of them voiced optimism that they would achieve their goal in THEIR OWN lifetimes.
The research focused on telemeres, which are located at the end of DNA strands and gradually wear down during a lifetime, causing aging and death. The research focused on how to slow down or stop that wearing-down process. Pretty interesting. Maybe this is where the breakthrough comes, but it could come from some other research. As I said, lots of people are working on this.
Of course, this is controversial research. If they are successful, who will get the procedures that will stop their aging forever? What will it mean to live forever? Overpopulation is already a problem...what will happen if people stop dying? And what will the world's religions have to say about a scientific treatment that defeats death--and people no longer have to "go to heaven" to be with "Heavenly Father." Hmm? This development could be culturally explosive.
Meanwhile beware of charlatans and quacks that try to profit by fooling people with "cures" not based on science.

The key to eternal life will never be found as "everything that begins must end". However, science will take us quite a long way to living a longer life, but most likely not in our lifetime.

I think that life can certainly be prolonged and is already being done. I would say that in twenty years people could live to be 100. But do you really want to be 100 or more. I think quality of life is really what we should strive for. There are many ways to improve quality of life right now, through good diet and exercise and doing what you love.
Religion offers eternal life but you have to die first, except in some cases where you are transferred directly to heaven without dying. Eternal life in religion has a progression.
Unembodied state=soul before birth
Embodied state=life on earth-soul unites with body
Disembodied state=death-separation of body and soul
Reembodied= soul is reunited with your perfect body for eternity
This is the state that I would prefer over being a hundred and fifty.

Well, hypothetically, of course, what if at the end of our DNA strands there's these teeny-tiny strings called telemeres. And, what if these telemeres wore down, so to say, and when they wore all the way down, you start to like decay and die. Now, what if we found out that a real muther of a virus had decided to specialize in hiding out in our telemeres right where the telemeres emerge from the DNA ends AND that the virus was actually LOCKING down the NATURAL growth of those telemeres. What if people could get rid of that parasitical virus and our telemeres were allowed to grow naturally and the onset of decay and dying didn't happen so prematurely? Why, we humans would live 9700 years, or thereabouts. Just hypothetically, of course. (stay tuned . . .anticipate at least a little 200-300 "boost" here in ten to twenty years, if Christian fanatics don't burn down all the labs in the name of God first.)

.I feel that life will always come to an end. Many believe that there may be a way to find the key to live longer. I ask the question, why would you want to.

i think of we could finally end up re-defining God as we advance scientifically. We nevertheless won't understand if we are appropriate, yet i think of finally spiritua; scientists would be able to inject some logic into the assumption. here is an concept i've got arise with... i comprehend it sounds loopy, yet no crazier than the different interpretation of God: God is the collective expertise of all creation. concept and instinct are mutually a particle rigidity, like gravity. the assumption-rigidity is directed basically via the collective expertise (aka God, aka all of creation.) here is why i think of that's achievable: The uncertainty important and issues like the interference trend that emerge while a single photon is fired by way of 2 slits in a show and an excellent form of of the eccentricities of quantum mechanice (like the wave/particle conundrum wherein potons seem to "behave" in a distinctive way based upon whether or no longer they're being reported) can all be defined if the assumption tactics of those gazing may be reported to have an effect on the top result. There are too lots of people who clam to have had some form of unexplained experians to jot down all of them of as nutters. This concept could clarify "ghosts," "esp," the link that has been enormously lots documented between twins, or perhaps twinned photons (which commute in opposite guidelines yet seem to "understand" what the different is doing... considering a photon is easy, that communique could be vacationing speedier than easy). all of us understand the suggestions is an electric powered organ. That electrical energy must be putting out some hitherto unknow sub-quantum particle that, while joined with the different like it, will become a tremendous sentient mass of capability that loves us as we like ourselves. that must be God. i understand lots of that's WAAAYYY available, yet i've got faith a reliable conviction that God exists... yet all of the definitons we've stumbled on make no experience to me. God would perhaps be a actual entity that we are no longer able to determine. That makes greater experience to me than somehing supernatural. regardless of each thing, if God created the organic international, i've got faith he's definite via it somewhat is rules. appropriate... i'm a nutter now, are not I?

I don't know about science, but you can awake to eternal life any time. You are the life of the body, spirit, you have union with God in unconditional love, within your heart. NOW. "God dwells within you as you" Wake up. I don't know about living longer,I think the time of your death is set at birth. But the fountain of youth is your sexual energy.

Eternity is outside of time and space. Eternal means no beginning and no ending.
Humans are born and therefor have a beginning.
Therefor your question is faulty.

No: we haven't even come up with a perpetual machine yet - how do we expect to create something to make humans live forever? Even if it was created, we would not be able to know if it would actually allow us to live forever within our lifetime!
