We've had Betta in our 30 gallon tank (freshwater) for a few years. We have Mollies, Guppies, Swordtails, Gouramis, Cherry Barbs, a big ol' Apple snail and a clown loach. No problems.
Betta's will only fight other male Betta's. I was nervous about it too, but the pet shop assured me and they were right. The great things about Betta's is the amount of "flash and glam" they add for only a few bucks.
Good luck!

Yes you absolutely can put them in with other fish.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE WHO SAY THAT BETTAS KILL ALL OTHER FISH!
Bettas are not overly aggressive to any fish other than bettas. Male bettas will fight with other male bettas over territory and will harass any female bettas trying to get them to spawn.
But female bettas are very docile and will not bother any other fish, and in general male bettas will not bother any other type of community fish.
The only worry is that bettas are slow and have long fins, which make easy targets for more aggressive fin nippers such as barbs.

You didn't mention if you have a male or female betta? I had a 20 gal. tank that was a community tank with guppies, neons, swordfish, nothing aggressive. Later I released my male betta in with my tropical fish and the other fish would pick on the fins of my betta. Had to take him out. His beautiful fins were chewed up. I definitely think that your tetra would go after your betta's fins if you have a male, if you have a female I would definitely try putting her in. good luck!

LMAO!!! Look at all the people who said it won't work and then look at the bad ratings! I think that gives you your answer right there.
Most likely a betta will do just fine with those fish. Bettas usually go well with anything as long as the other fish don't have long fins and/or won't nip the bettas fins. Fancy guppies are hit and miss, mollies may nip at the betta, but most likely it will work just fine.
A betta that kills everything in sight is pretty uncommon, but if you do get a men one, go ahead and go exchange it for another and see what happens.

it really depends on the fish's personality. Each betta, as i have noticed, has a seemingly different attitude towards other fish. Mine for example will not tolerate any other fish in it's tank, a 20 gallon. It is just like that, a very agressive fish. Some like the company, only way to find out is to try.

Contrary to popular belief, bettas don't attack every other kind of fish. They will always attack other bettas, but there are only a couple of other kinds of fish I've seen bettas attack.
I've seen bettas chase and attack gouramis, ciclids and other fish that have elaborate fins and colors. I think it may be that they perceive these breeds as a threat.
One solution to keep every fish happy is to make sure your tank has enough space and hiding places for your fish to carve out the territories they want to keep. If the betta proves to be a jerk, just get him a smaller tank or bowl. You can keep the guy in a cup or a glass until a separate space can be arranged.

Some tropical fish do well with bettas. Which ones, I don't know off the top of my head. It's best to call an aquarium shop or pet store that supplies fish.

If there is enough room ... yes. Beta are worse than angel fish for eating baby mollies and baby guppies. With larger fish, no problems.

Not with mollies or angel fish, as they're very territorial and nasty. Tetras are fine, as are guppies, but I always kept my bettas in separate tanks.

Yes! Bettas do wonderfully with other fish as long as they are the only beta in the tank! I had one in my 30 gallon talk with various community fish and he did great!
