I always take my shoes off when I come in the house? We have a pile of shoes at the front door. We have a large entry to our house so there is no problem just leaving the shoes to either side of the door when one enters the house. I have a friend who has a bench with shelves under it for shoes. We just live with the pile of shoes at the door as long as it keeps the shoes out of the house, that is more important.

I had a friend who had a shoe rack right in the front foyer. It was a small thing with two shelves that came about 2 and a half feet off the ground. Each shelf could hold about 3 pairs of shoes. It was pretty good for keeping the shoes organized.

Yes, we take off our shoes at the door. Several answerers have mentioned the shoe racks at the door in Japan. It took me several days to realize that the beautiful cabinets inside the door were for shoes. Members of the family kept their most used shoes out and the rest of the shoes in the cabinets that were about the size of a buffet! My cure for the huge heaps of shoes? ... my boys grew up and left home with their size 15 feet!

Living on a ranch we take our shoes off at the door. We also have a brush that can be used to remove dirt and etc, before our guest comes in. Our shoes/boots are placed under a bench. And we hang our coats in the same area. At my Daughters house in Germany that also take their shoes off and offer you a pair of "house shoes" to keep you comfortable while visiting.

In our house we have a shoe bag, its like a bag that hangs outside of the door with about 30 shoe slots. It's better than the shoe rack because you'll take less space.

no, but we keep shoes on the car-port for yard work that we can just change into. That's not helping you I guess. That would give you two piles of shoes. I know. Get a shoe locker for outside.

I agree with, and subscribe to, the Japanese practice of not bringing the outside, into the inside of your home via the bottom of your dirty shoes. It is a nasty habit! Think about what you step in during the course of a day out! WHy would you want the mall or the parking lot in your living room?
I have a seperate little area for shoes and no one ever comes into my home without changing into either socks or slippers first!

⥠I don't know about other people but my family and I take our shoes off when we enter the house because we have white carpet and my mom is kind of a clean freak. Maybe you could take off your shoes when you come in and carry them in a closet or get on of those organizing things that works for shoes.

I have the same problem - tons of shoes at each door! I have considered getting a small cabinet and my hubby used to keep a shoe organizer at the door...
