i have a ps2 and the discs work perfect.
but when i put them in the disc tray they wont load up because it says disc read error

How old is your ps2? the original launch systems had that problem after a few months so if your system is old like 4-5 years then it's a manufacturing defect and you can contact sony it's possible they will fix it at no cost to you. if it's not the case then it was probably bumped or knocked loosening the lense or scratching it. same solution as above but it will not be free.

Omg, I hate that! When I use my Gamecube, it does that, and the disc looks like new. I think it's the console sometimes. Maybe it just get's old. It depeneds on how long you've had it. That's why I can't wait to get my Wii when they come back in stock.
