I have seen a hawk all day today, flying around the trees outside my office building. Do they have any special signifigance?

OF COURSE it means there's a hawk hunting in your area, but the question is why have you noticed it, and why does it seem meaningful to you? Hawks do have symbolic significance:

"There is never a moment when the Universe is not trying to get a message through to us but we are so often too busy or unaware of what it is we need to be watching for! Hawk helps us to not only be aware that we are receiving a message but how to interpret them. The realm of symbols is also the realm of Hawk for Hawk is able to soar high above the earth to soar on the breath of Spirit, to commune with Spirit and thus understand through the intuitive level what the message means and with their keen eyesight, how to implement it once they return to earth through seeing the broader picture below.
Many of the messages Hawk may bring are about freeing yourself of thoughts and beliefs that are limiting your ability to soar above your life and gain a greater perspective." (1)

If you can get your hands on Animal Speak, by Ted Andrews, I recall a section on the Hawk that might be insightful to you.

I had a once in a lifetime experiene. Was sitting in my yard on swing. Heard birds making a noisy racket in the trees and then all quiet. All of a sudden a hawk with a bluejay in it claws landed on the ground about 15 feet in front of me. I didn't move a muscle and actually saw the hawk get a better grip on the bluejay and then it took off. Took about 10 seconds for all the birds to come out again.

It means the end of "your" world is coming.
Count the circles the hawk makes multiply by 4 and divide by 3. The resulting answer is how much time you have left but it could be hours minutes days or years I'm not sure I'd have to talk to the hawk personally to know that information. Then it would probably have to kill me.

They are hunting for their next meal. Hawks are awesome. You should see my birds hide themselves in trees when the hawk flies around. I have seen a lot of feathers fall from the air. Hawks have to eat too, just wish they wouldn't get my little birds. When the hawk dive bombs, it is amazing.

It means a hawk is looking for something to eat. Unless you are a small rodent, you have nothing to worry about. Get back to work.

Hawks are birds. They hunt by flying. It may mean that the hawk is hunting. I wouldn't take it personally.
