IEDs seem to be killing us. Havent they invented anti-IED technology yet?... Well, if they have they will probably not tell us becase the enemy would know and adjust their strategy accordingly. How many terrorists are there and how many must be stopped to win this war? It would help to know how many are against us so we can come up with some kind of timeline describing the forces that are against us. You see what Im sayin'? How can we get a more clear picture of the opposition? How can we win the war on terror? Should we poll the middle east to see how many hate and want to kill our soldiers?

How do you conduct a war on a noun?

It's not just us that can win the war on terror. It has to be a worldwide fight against it. Unfortunately we are one of the few countries that want to fight it. There seems to be no end to the number of terrorists that are willing to blow themselves up to kill others. The answers are complicated. By fighting it, I mean diplomatically also. We know what countries the terrorists are coming from. I think there should be sanctions against these countries which are backed by all major countries. The problem here is oil. The countries with all the terrorists also supply the world with oil. Most of the world is too dependent on oil so it would be difficult to have them agree to sanctions.
We need alternative resources for energy so that we are not so dependent on these countries that turn a blind eye to the terrorists in there own state. Unfortunately, this all takes time and there is allot of politics involved.

The quality of life for many of these terrorists is poor. The reason many of them are blowing themselves up is they don't have much to live for. They're promised wonderful things in the afterlife and you're considered a hero by others. Democracy would change there quality of life, unfortunately most don't want any part of it. There convinced the West is evil.

Our presence in the Middle East has inflamed terrorism. We don't understand these people and there hatred for us seems to be very strong. They seem to thrive on it. We've ignored the terrorism in the past and that didn't seem to be the answer either.

Again, I think we need the support of all major Countries to fight it diplomatically but getting everyone to be on the same page seems to be next to impossible.

No quick answer here. However if we develop other resources, that will deplete some of the financial resources that are funding terrorism. If that happens, the goverments of these countries may be forced to deal with the terrorists that are being trained in there country. All countries, especially those in the middle east are dependant on world wide trade. Sanctions and the declining value of oil would force them to deal with terrorism.

I think the best way to counter terrorism is by not creating more terrorists.

As a middle eastern, most of us don't even doubt that the US invaded Iraq and is not helping.
I personally consider the existence of the US army in Iraq to be only for political and financial advantages, and absolutely not for the sake of "freedom".
For that reason, opposing and fighting the US army in Iraq is not "terrorsim" ... any country that is invaded by another has the right to defend it's freedom ... and the US is only there to influence and force a government on the people that serves the US's interests in the region.

Just go away and stop making more enemies ... enough people hate you already.

PS ... the american people are something else, im talking about the troops and politics.

A far better question is how can we put a final end to the G.O.P.'s undeclared war on the American Middle Class, fought surrepetiously via huge tax breaks for the rich, and servilely licking the crack of big-monied special interests every single legislative chance they get.

Th G.O.P. has broken the middle class. They did it with lies fools like you swallowed whole.

We can't win the war on terror.

To win it, we would have to kill every person in the mid-east old enough to hold an AK-47. This would be genocide, and we would be condemned by the rest of the world.

We can't win the war on terror because every muslim we kill inspires maybe 5 more to take up arms against us.

The only way to win is to stop pissing these people off. They don't hate us for our freedoms; that just a soundbite created by the White House. Bin Laden told us years ago what he wants: he wants our military out of Saudi Arabia.

Islam was spread by terror since the day Mohammed started the movement. His 'ministers' traveled from village to village with a sword in one hand and a Koran in the other, making an offer the people could not refuse. There may be no way to end it.

One can only weaken the Jihadists for a while before their numbers increase sufficiently to once again begin the process of conquest.

Predijuce is terrorism. along with theft, abuse etc. but yes we do have the technology to prevent IED's from exploding before the convoy gets to that location. Its just that not all convoys have the device at this point. It takes time and is very expensive. The baby is called the Vulcan and the other is classified.

Not possible- terror will always be here. As far as the middle east-we need to start our own version of evangelist style muslim faith, and make it so it is anti-violent. Then install it in madrasses, quietly and carefully, and back it financially. Likewise, adopt about a thousand islamic kids from everywhere in the mideast, and train them as agents. Quit our dependence on oil. Hire the best propaganda people from madison ave. and hollywood, and get our carefully devised messages out there by obvious and inobvious means. Put a ultra black ops squad in key places, and start killing the people who back the warlords and mercenaries, but not the warlords and mercenaries themselves. And for those people, we spin their messages, and everytime they kill an innocent, go in and recruit that family, and give them the money to seek retribution. Basically push the circuit to overload.

The war can be won when left wing political correctness and dissent is thrown out. We must band together for the common cause of winning to be successful.

Terror will always exist until Religion is erased. When someone believes something that strong, there isn't much anyone can do to change their minds. We should back out of their nightmare country, wait for them to strike and then bomb the living hell out of them. After which, we send in the red cross and all the illegal contractors we have here in the U.S to fix up thier land and put a McDonalds and Starbucks on each corner. If that doesn't stop them, nothing will.

Sadly, it's more of a war on ideologies than on anything else. Until the "enemy" is willing to negotiate and actually abide by a truce, the only answers are to commit genocide, wall them in and isolate every last one who believes as they or, to continue fighting until the day of "Rapture." I for one absolutely refuse to subscribe to their "religion."
