I've used scanners that say they'll scan slides but they really don't work. You get a low grade picture that's the same size as the slide's picture.

Here's something I found that might help.

He's building a simple box that lets him scan slides at a good resolution. I have a couple of slides so I may try this myself.

If your flatbed scanner has that feature or ability, then yes. Otherwise, putting the slide on the tray will likely not work.

Scanners that can do this are usually equipped with a removable panel on the flatbed or a white backdrop rather than the black. They will often have a plastic tray that you can insert three or more slides at a time to be scanned.

The feature on the software provided with the scanner must also be changed from reflective to transparent so that it knows you are using film or a slide, rather than a photo or other normal page.

Check in any electronic store. You should be able to find a slide adaptor. It is a triangle piece with mirrors in it that sets on the scanner. You slide the slide into it and then scan it like you would anything else. The adaptor just reflects light properly through the slide so that ir shows up. Without the reflected light, all you would get is a dark spot.

Yes, and some scanners even have a "slide adapter" that holds the slide in place.

You can, you will need a good scanner and a rack for holding them. Just remember to make sure they are going the right way or they will be reversed.
