It's a good idea to cleanse, tone, and moisturize like you've been told. Cleansing basically just clears your face of dirt and washes bacteria out of your pores. Toner evens skin tone by removing dead skin cells and moisturizers keep your face from drying out and peeling.
It all depends on what products you buy as some may have different ways of using them. To cleanse, usually you just put it on your face while its wet, massage, and then wash off. With toners, you put it on your face using a cotton ball after it has been dried with a towel, and then a moisturizer you put on like you would put on a lotion - evenly and lightly.
A good cleanser to buy would be: Neutrogena Clear Pore (cleanser/mask) with benzyol peroxide, a good toner would be Neutrogena Alcohol Free Toner, and a good moisturizer would be Complex 15 (it works great for those with dry skin and keeps your face moisturized even during dry winter months).

hey,
go to a shop called lush. they are on many high streets and their products are made from plants and natural stuff that is REALLY good for you face. you dont need to cleanse tone and moisturise twice daily. this myth was perpetuated by people selling the products and they are selling twice as much when you use twice as much. you will be fine if you cleanse and moisturise in the evening to get rid of all the stuf on you face from being out all day, but in the morn you only have a little sweat from sleeping so just tone and moisturise. ask the assistants in lush about which skin type you have and they're products aren't cheap but they are divine, and you dont need to use much at all. i use a 5pence piece worth on moisturiser at a time and my £4.50 tub is more than 2/3's full used every day and 2 months old already. i cant stress it enough lush lush lush the best face and body products ever (and no i dont work for the company :) )
hope this helps babe x

Im a beauty therapist
Eye makeup remover on cotton wool pad
Cleanse skin a small amount of cleanser massage into face rinse off use a face cloth for exfoliating and then repeat
Tone (especailly if you live in a hard water area)
Serum (if you like to use a face serum)
Eye cream
Moisturise (use a skin care oil before going to bed if you skin is dry)
In the morning you will only need one cleanse
Exfoliate three times a week
Mask twice a week
Monthly facial
Try not to use anything will a lot of mineral oil as it will clog the skin. Check the ingrediants.
Good Luck!

I have tried many skincare treatments over the years-clinique,Clarins,avon,olay,La Prairie etc but the best I have experienced in skincare rituals (after 20 years as a makeup artist and skincare consultant) is SK-II skincare. Its the best selling skincare in East Asia and it really really works.I have never seen such a brilliant result with anything else I have ever used-and all my friends complement me on my skin since i started using it 6 years ago.
They do 3 cleansers but I use their Facial Treatment Cleansing Oil (removes makeup when applied straight to dry skin massage in and then add water and it turns to milk and cleans off the rest of the dirt and oil-even waterproof mascara!) My skin never feels dry afterwards just nice and comfortable.
Then their Facial Treatment Essence rebalances the skin (you apply with the palms of the hands) it lifts moisture and rebalances oil.It also smoothes the skin and makes it look radiant.
Finally moisturise with one of their excelllent treatments-I like Advanced Signs Treatment but they do all types for different needs.
So yes Cleanse tone and moisturise but dont forget the Facial Treatment essence it really makes the difference in my opinion. You can buy it in Harrods and Selfridges. They have an online consultation on their website which takes you through the recommended products and if you call your nearest store they will talk you through the instructions.Good Luck!

I would recommend going to any local superstore. First things first you need to diagnose your skin condition i.e. dry/sensitive, oily, combination, normal/combination. Then you need to find a store which does cleansing beauty products for your skin type. You just need, cleanser (wether it be cleansing milk or you can have a cleansing facial wash), you will also need a toner and moisturiser to suit your skin type. Every morning (if you have cleansing milk) put some cleansing lotion on a cotton pad, not too much tho, about 5 p blob maybe a 20 p blob, wipe the cotton pad onto your cheeks, forehead, undereyes, chin, nose basically your face and under chin. Get you toner, dab a bit of toner onto another cotton pad, sweep lightly across facial area avoiding eyes, and finally moisturiser, dab a pea size on to right and left cheek, rub in spread evenly over nose area and chin, and lastly dab a small bit on your forehead and rub in. Now you can apply foundation and make-up. Repeat before bed.

Easypeasy. To cleanse your skin, stick yer head in a bucket of ice-cold water - repeat three times - boy will you feel cleansed.
Goose grease is always a favourite to use as a moisturiser except it attracts flys, but you cant have it all roads.
Finish your routine by applying a good aftershave - I find 'Huskyboy' for men always drives the wenches wild, plus you can get six boxes for a quid down at Penkridge market.
Ta ta!

I'd agree about Lush. Best place I have ever bought skin care from.
But the best moisturiser I ever got was Self-Heal Skin Cream, made with flower essences; like a drink of cool water on a hot day is what it feel like on the skin. It costs about £8 and you can get it from The International Flower Essence Repertoire on the Isle of Gigha(they have a website too but you have to phone for orders. They are very helpful too.) This cream is suitable for any skin type and is very helpful with stuff like acne and eczema, and simply feels wonderful winter or summer.

The best way to gain clean fresh skin for 2007 is spot lotion. So you may not spots but it works a treat. Clearasil ultra deep pore treatment lotion helps me. I used it when I was spotty but when my spots went I stopped using it and noticed how neglected my skin was. Just use it twice daily on a cotton pad (Superdrug has some brilliantly cheap ones). It only takes seconds to apply.
ALSO......
For moisturising your body I find Champney's cream the best. It is a massage in a body. Perfect for pampering after you've had a Lush bath bomb in the relaxing tub.

Buy a cleanser you like (it can be cream/lotion, rinse-off etc) recpmmnded for your skin type. Then a toner you like followed by a moisturizer you like. They don't all have to be from the same brand & not necessarily expensive. if you're very young (well, under 20) don't mess with your skin too much as it'll aggravate the natural balance of your skin( many of these contain harsh ingrredients).
I like the ones from the health shops, Dr Haushka is very well known (used by cleebs), Weleda is good, Jason also good. If you don't want to buy from health shops, I think Neutrogena is a very good brand, Boots Traditional range is also good & they do one with Vitamin A & E which i tried & liked.
Ponds clenasers are supposed to be good also.
It's a case of going round & seeing which one you personally like!

I like Clinique's three-step system. The moisturizer is nice and light, but the toner runs on the harsh side, so get the mild version if you've got dry skin.
Aveeno makes good products too. I buy them when I don't have it in the budget to buy clinique
