After watching the umpteenth episode of American Idol. Professionals and laymen alike have realized that most people who are fast to say that they can sing really well... Can't. Not even Close!

So I suppose your first step, would be to sing in front of someone who is NOT... your mom or girlfriend/boyfriend or your weekend Karoke drinking buddies.

If someone ELSE tells you you are good enough to become something... Then find an agent and a producer, go into a studio and cut a demo and send record labels packages with your stuff, headshots and a letter. and good luck to ya!

Remember this, everything has an entry level. If you want to be a judge one day, you will more than likely work in a mail-room throughout school, then law school, then practice law and then hopefully, you will be an elected judge. Well think of the music industry the same way. Most of the GOOD vocalists out there have been working without any pay, (in most cases THEY have to spend money) for years before they can be "famous". Some famous singers are in debt as well. The key thing is a benchmark. What defines success to YOU? Is it the first time you are heard on the radio? Is it a platinum CD? Is it 10 CDs sold? 10 million? A Grammy? There are hundreds of ways to make it, but remember you will spend alot of time at "entry level" before this happens. At this level you should learn as much as you can about music so that when you do make it, you are not desperately putting out a bunch of crap like so many new artists who just didn't take the time to improve. This is the best and most honest answer I can give. Unless you win American Idol.

It's very possible to learn to sing well. You just need to know the right methods. Learn here https://tr.im/ltHxA

Singing teachers will cost money and can be expensive so they're not for everyone. Singing can be learned so it's not an "either you have it or you don't" kind of thing.

Whether you sound like crap or you're decent, I recommend this singing course. It's one of the best methods to learn to sing well in a short amount of time. It's all about using efficient techniques that work.

First, I would take singing lessons to make sure you are as good as you think you are. I would then look around for open mike nights at bars and coffeehouses. You can find a studio where you can get help making a demo tape and send it to reputable record producers.

GOOD LUCK
