Try going to my computer. Right click on the icon for your ipod and select "Eject."

You can't. But you can still play songs off of it. Use Itunes as the controller. Be sure to use Itunes to eject it before disconnecting it from the computer. If Itunes is not running and it's been charged, it can be disconnected without harm.

Leave it alone. It will stop on its own eventually.
