I just watched "Kate& Leopold". If Leopold is Stuart's great-grandfather and marries Kate..is it kind of weird that her and Stuart were together in the romantic sense..why wasn't this addressed?

Wait... Was Leopold Stuart's great-grandfather? When did that happen? What did I miss?
If he is, then yes, that's weird.
But I don't remember Leopold being Stuart's great-grandfather.
Well, dang! Fine! Sorry I missed that!
Evidently the writers missed that as well, otherwise they would've addressed the problem before the movie hit the theaters.

It was addressed. Stuart said that he and Kate must have gotten together to bring her and Leopold together.

Well, it's part of the time continuum that no longer existed after Kate went back in time. When Kate and Stuart dated, Stuart had a different great.... grandmother. Once Kate went back, Stuart may have ceased to exist. When you go back in time, the future changes.

Yes it was caught in a sneak preview by a several people that indeed they would be related (ew)

They tried to fix the story a little bit before it was released

This was addressed, but not completely.

it wasn;t until they had gotten into the sneak preview phase that the contextural error was points out, so the explanation is rather weak and unsupportive
